A lot of people think that Muslims do not celebrate Thanksgiving, yet they do. Now i’m not saying all of the 1.3 billion muslims follow this American tradition, but it is practiced not only in America, but even in Pakistan ( i dont know why..), but whatever makes you happy. The theme of Thanksgiving is what? To give thanks. There isn’t a particular religious affiliation with that. As muslims, as Christians, as Jews, as HUMANS, we should give thanks everyday. I don’t think I have to get into the whole people in Africa starving spiel, we should ultimately be grateful for the blessings that we receive everyday and not only that, we should share the blessings with other people! So yes, muslims celebrate Thanksgiving, we give thanks, we share our food, we try to give for the sake of God. Side Note: I had a wonderful Thanksgiving at the Sikanders residence and being a desi it wouldn’t be complete without a desi style flavored Turkey! Gobble Gobble! Love your family & spend quality time with them! How did you spend your Thanksgiving?
Here is a great article written by A Muslim American about her experience : http://blog.chron.com/youngamericanmuslim/2011/11/a-very-muslim-thanksgiving/
